Research
My tutors have given me some links of artist and designers to look at whilst researching for my project, to help me generate ideas.
One of the artists I liked was Christoph Niemann who makes art out of random objects and illustrates. I really like the way he finds everyday objects and is able to transform them into something else using ink on paper to illustrate and transform these objects. This is inspiring because it shows that objects can be cleverly turned into something different by using art.
I also really like the work of Sherrie Levine who took Marcel Duchamps fountain and turned it bronze. This is an example of developing something into a new object with a completely different look and meaning, it tells a different story.
Stefan Stagmeister is a graphic designer that created a project called ‘the happiness project’. He filled the second floor of the institute of contemporary arts and created a happy show. The show offers visitors to experience of walking into Stefans mind as he attempts to increase his happiness via meditation, cognitive therapy and mood altering pharmaceuticals. We were shown this to show that we are able to maybe make a graphic installation for our project.
