Creating zines with Christian
Today's process and production was with Christian (because Nick was ill) and was all about making zines. He showed us some slides of information of which we made notes and then showed us how to fold and cut an A3 sheet into a zine! We then had to create our own filling it with the information we just learnt about zines and present it in a fun and interesting way.
I decided to write 'this is a zine' on the front cover, to be literal in a funny in an obvious way. especially when the content inside is all about zines. The typography I used was bold and the colour theme is black white and yellow! Page one describes what a zine is and I changed up the typography to more of a calligraphic style. Page two has a quote that Christian showed us from T.J Cobden - Sanderson about bookbinding.
We were set a second task (so unfortunately I was unable to finish my first zine in class) of creating a smaller zine in groups. Me and John (http://jwb-design.blogspot.co.uk) started to make a small zine about making the perfect cup of tea! We made a front cover with a mixture of both our typography on and started to draw the inside of the zine. At the end of the class we all presented our work to each other, it was interesting to see what everyone else had created. I really enjoyed this workshop because I like doing drawings and work that does not always involve computers. I liked learning about how to create a zine ourselves and is definitely something I will try again in the future.
