Colour Schemes & Pattern Research

Not only have I been looking into people illustrations, but also patterns and colour schemes. I want the book to have a delicate pastel colour theme but also be bright and full of pretty patterns. After researching on Pintrest I found lots of patterns and colour themes that I really liked and are in the direction I want to take my work.
1. Here are some examples of pattern work I really like. I love the simplicity of this first design. The scribbled dots would fit my theme of a childlike aesthetic and the pink at the bottom is a lovely pastel pink that I love.

2. Pattern 2 is more of an illustration however I love the different shades of green and the way the leaves look like a pattern but is also a scene. The greens and corals work well together.
3. Pattern 3 has a similar pink colour woven in along with other beautiful shades of pink and blue. I love this contrast of shades and the black dashed pattern over the top adds texture.

4. I like the third pattern again because of the soft pink but also the messy ink eye pattern, it matches the aesthetic and style I am interested in.
5. I like this pattern because of the colour scheme and the cute simple illustrations of the little people, clouds, birds etc. I like the nautical theme and the way the pattern is repetitive.
6. I love this pattern due to the contrast of pattern work and colours used. I like the different sized patterns from large blobs to small dashes in a pattern. I like the incorporation of yellow as it really brightens the pattern. The black and teal blue also work really well together.

Colour Schemes
These are colours taken from the images above that I have made into colour samples using Adobe Color CC. These show that I like and will probably use pastel pinks and soft warm pinks as well as light blues, greens and teals. A splash of yellow for a contrasting colour is also involved.
