Photoshoot!

A photo taken from my shoot

Photo shoot day! Today we had the photography studio booked out and me and my friend John who also was taking photos shared the slot. Before we went to the studio everyone involved gathered at my house to get ready. Myself, John, Amy and Jess were models for the shoot and my friend who does photography, Georgia, also came to take the photos and help out in the studio! I had the outfits assigned and pre planned before hand so everyone had a good look at what they were going to wear.

This photo shows my makeup. I researched looks that I wanted people to have and everyone had a look and picked out what they thought would look good and what they could do. I went for a bold white line that traced my eyelid as it was unusual yet simplistic. I also added a white dot under my eye. Amy recreated a look with orange eye shadow under her brow and eye. She also did her hair in space buns for an edgier look. For Jess I told her to do a bold purple/blue look because she was going to wear a blue jumper which contrasted with her orange hair. John did his normal going out makeup with lots of highlighter.

We all got ready and headed down to the studio. Georgia set up the studio and sorted out the camera and we helped and learnt how the studio worked. I wanted a white background because it is a good background for publication images, and also gave me the flexibility of changing the background on Photoshop.

This photo shows Georgia setting up the camera to the computer and TV. It was really good that we could see the photos just taken on the big TV to see how they were, as a director this was very useful. I think that I took to directing well. I made sure everyone was comfortable in what they were wearing and tried not to pressure people. My photos got taken first because John was adding more makeup to the looks so I went first. I was nervous at first but soon began helping and suggesting what people should pose like and recommending props etc. I feel like we moved swiftly and in an organised way as we only had 1 hour and a half to get two shoots done and we managed to complete everything within the short amount time.

These are some clips from the shoot, showing you a glimpse into the day. (These were during Johns part). Overall I am happy with the pictures and think the day went really smooth for a first ever time in the studio working with the equipment and directing. The next step is to choose the best images and edit them on Photoshop!
