Flying animation
The last process and production animation session with Sara was to make a flying animation. We were told to illustrate some kind of flying object such as a plane or flying animal to then animate it across the screen from right to left. I decided to do a bird and then thought of doing a toucan because it is an exotic animal and thought that no one else would choose this animal. I got a photograph of one from google and used illustrator to create the toucan using the photo as reference. I made sure that each body part was on a different layer so that it could be animated. I also added gradients to parts of the toucan so that its bright colours could flow and add light and shade.
Unfortunately I was ill on the day of the lesson so instead the next day I managed to animate it on my own, using the skills I have gained from past after effects workshops. I made the bird move across the screen, dipping in certain places to look more like flying. I also moved the wings back and forth slightly to make it look more like it was using its wings to fly. Here is my final video. uploaded onto vimeo.
