Motion Graphics with Sara 1
The first Process and Production lesson was with Sara where we created a motion graphic that explored geometric shapes. Each second of the video was made on separate after effect documents and was put together at the end and music added, then rendered. We had to prepare in advance on illustrator by designing different shapes to make into animations during class. I chose a purple and pink theme where the colours blended into each other. I then made some shapes, mainly circles and also a jagged geometric shape which I thought would look cool if pink gems would come out of it and move.
The shapes and background and all the other elements of the video have effects added that I learnt about in the class and added to my video, to make the final video!
- The first thing you see is a transition. Sara showed us how to add transitions to our work so I started the video with this bold and dramatic transition of black and purple stripes.
- Second two is the circle with a ripple effect added which I found and liked when exploring the effect options.
- Second three has the shape wiggle around slightly, this was so it looked as if it was building momentum which connects with second four...
- Second four then shows the circle explode and expel smaller circles out of. So second 3 has the shape build up momentum and then it explodes and release more shapes.
- Then the shape turns into the jagged geometric shape, and gems grow out of it.
- The last three seconds just show my name and my uni, as well as the gems at the bottom.
The final step was to add music, so I went onto free music archive. I wanted a techno and alert sounding song, as the transitions are sharp and I don't think a slow or relaxing style would work. I think the final song I chose works well and grabs your attention. Overall I like how my video turned out and it was really fun to try and learn new techniques and effects as well as being able to design the video in a style I liked.
