Design Manifesto Seminar
In our first seminar I learnt about design manifesto, which is a set of rules in which you want to follow whilst designing. The class was given a design manifesto called First Things First 2000, and was instructed to analyse the passage and cross out or edit it to be more how your design manifesto would be. I read through the manifesto and crossed out certain sections that talked about designers that only worked in advertising and marketing jobs and how they are ruining the way graphic design is viewed. I disagreed with this because I think that all types of designers are important to design and that sometimes ad and marketing campaigns can be the most creative and clever work. We were also told to think of something we would put in our own manifesto. I thought of always starting a project with your ideas on paper as going straight to the computer is limiting and rough sketching is the best way to get your ideas flowing.
