Typography with Aidan and Rob
Today I attended a mini seminar hosted by Rob and Aidan all about typography. There are four categories of typography:
- sans serif
- serif
- script
- decorative
When designing, a font category should be chosen that fits with the type of the design and then stick with it. Choosing five fonts is always good as it saves time.
I learnt that kerning is the space between letterforms and tracking is the equal spaces in the whole word. Leading is the distance between the baseline of successive lines in type and rag is the irregular or uneven vertical margin of a block type. Usually it is the right that's ragged but either or both could. Line length should be considered. Hierarchy must be considered as in what is the most important information and use size and placement to emphasis this. Lastly they said study it and show interest and your work will improve.
