Same, same but different
Today in Robs lecture he talked about glitches, structure and algorithms. I liked it when he talked about the Fibonacci sequence and golden ratio as I have heard/seen it before but did not know much about it. The Fibonacci sequence is a series of numbers where a number is found by adding up the two numbers before it. The numbers are nature's numbering system. They appear everywhere in nature, from the leaf arrangement in plants, to the pattern of the florets of a flower, to the scales of a pineapple. The sequence is often used in design as well, which combines mathematics into design and gives design a strong structure for example in the painting Hokusai below.
Rob also talked about artist John Maeda who creates art using technology and computer programming. His work is fascinating because I did not know what you could create by using computer programming and algorithms!
