Manchester Trip - Manchester Art Gallery
After visiting the Whitworth Gallery we got back on the coaches and were taken to the HOME gallery near the center of Manchester. The exhibition at HOME was unfortunately closed so me and my friend grabbed some lunch before walking into the center to try and find Manchester Art Gallery. On our way we mistook the gallery for the Manchester library but was delighted to discover a small Oasis exhibition in the library which we decided to take a look at because my friend Amy who I was with is a huge fan of them. The exhibit was a collection of black and white photographs of the band in the 1990's. Here is a photograph of Liam Gallagher, one of the main band members.
After looking at the exhibition we finally found Manchester art gallery. A lot of the art in this gallery was traditional and ranged from the 1600's to 1900's. There were some huge and impressive paintings that blew me away, as well as portraits. I liked the still life drawings of flowers because of the colours used and the style. There was a painting of a lettuce leaf that looked so realistic I thought it was beautiful.
There were also some really lovely landscape paintings. The one below is of blossom trees and sheep and just looked angelic how the colours worked together to set the scene. I preffered the Whitworth gallery because the art was more modern and it is what I prefer however some work in this gallery was really nice to me as well.
