Todays lecture was with Tracey who taught us about design and emotion. We learnt this to help us look into the deeper meaning of something and see that things can be perceived differently or not what they may seem. For example we looked at illusions such as the young woman or old woman illusion. At first glance I saw a young woman facing away and wearing a bonnet. However if you look closely at her neck I began to see that her choker was mouth and her ear was an eye of an old haggard woman with her chin down and at a side angle. This shocks viewers as seeing a different image inside an image that looked simple surprises and fascinates you.
Using techniques like this in design work can help engage and surprise people with visual stimulation and add more interest to your work.
