Demonstration of Differences Seminar
In today's seminar with James we discussed looking at different perspectives when writing our essays. We must explore possibilities and be dynamic by not talking about static things.
To help us understand this we watched a video clip from a film called 'Withal and I - Washing Up'. The class was split into groups and had to describe what you saw in your groups 20 clip from the video. I wrote 'A man scared of going into the kitchen, warning his house mate by scaring him out'.
We did this to explore different perspectives of what was happening.
For the second task a covered box was presented. When it was unveiled I could see one side of the box. I wrote what I saw - old confused man, he's lost his sock, walking on the wall. On the other side of the box was the same image but rotated uoright and then the other side had a banana taped to it. This was to show us that from different angles you would have a different perspective of the situation.
We then had to get in groups and discuss different kinds of perspectives, to open our minds whilst writing our essay. We came up with:

- birds eye view
- layers/depth of the image
- distortion
- scale
- colour
- shadows
- speed
- refraction
This seminar helped me to know to use different points of view in my essay, not just my own.
