Designing group task
In today's process and production lesson with Rob we were give the task of working in a group to make a book/magazine using deconstructed Helvetica that students made in a previous seminar. I got in a group with Dane, Lisa and Holly and we began to plan out what we would do. Dane started to design the front cover and everyone else designed the inner pages. I took the deconstructed type and deconstructed it again to add style to the pages and so that I wasn't just copying and pasting the previous images. Me and Lisa also helped Dane create the front cover. He showed us what he had done so far and we helped him to change it by giving advise and ideas. In the end we created multiple possible covers and printed some out. We chose the one we thought looked the best. We then chose everyone's best work to put them onto the in design document. Below are some of the double page spreads in our magazine.
Everyone then handed their work to Rob and he showed them on the big screens for everyone. There were some really good designs. If I would have changed anything about our book it would be to add text because lots of other groups did and it looked really good and actually like a magazine, whereas we did not realise we could add text. I would have personally done a different cover too because it was not really my style but it was a group project so it had other peoples inputs in it. If it was a solo project I think it would look quite different.
