Developed work 2 - Photoshop
In October 2016 we had an adobe CC class with Rob where we learnt about Photoshop. One task from that lesson was to edit a photograph that was taken in class of ourselves, using Photoshop. In lesson I produced this image of me in storm clouds:
I am interested in learning more on how to use Photoshop as I do not have much experience with it so I have decided to use the photograph that was taken and edit it in a different way in my own time. The image was taken with a green screen background and I wanted to remove this so using the skills learnt from the lesson I removed the background and added a white one instead.
I brainstormed some ideas on how I could edit the image. Collage came to mind because it is something I really like and enjoy and have wondered how to do it digitally for some time. I went onto Youtube and found a perfect tutorial. The tutorial was to make a models face have life like cut outs where flowere bloomed through from the holes in the face.
I followed along with the tutorial doing the best that I could. I started again a few times because I was using tools for the first time such as the pen tool and after a first attempt I was not happy with the way it turned out so I tried again which was a lot better as I had more understanding of how to use the tool. The first screenshot shows the cut outs I made on the face and I am adding bevel and emboss features to them as this makes it look more realistic and 3D.
Screenshot 2 shows me adding flowers to the holes. I used an image of some red roses from google for this.
The last screenshot shows the final step. I firstly turned the saturation down making it black and white and the went on filter gallery to add a subtle canvas like texture over the top of the image.
Here is my final development piece! I think that it would look better if I was in a better pose on the photo like the tutorial model instead of a blank forward stare. However I am happy that I was able to complete the tutorial and definitely feel more comfortable with Photoshop now and I have learnt about new tools and how to use them correctly.
